The Sound of Speed exploded from the remnants of Seattle's pop-punk underground scene, and on the heels of their new release, "Light," the sparks are still flying.

The Sound of Speed delivers melody-laden, heavy Brit-Pop influenced songs, full of dynamics and bristling with energy.  They combine an uncompromising, rock-steady power with a flavor reminiscent of New Order, Placebo, Oasis and The Cure.

Songwriters Carlos Pulido, (a.k.a. Omega Man) and Varun Jhaveri are both versatile multi-instrumentalists who have played together in Seattle bands for years (first, in synth pop band Subterrania, and later in the shoegaze influenced Swerve) before forming The Sound Of Speed in 2003.

Pulido creates everything from piano-based ballads to space rock anthems, while Jhaveri balances his own songwriting with crooning angst-charged vocals. Together with solid rock drummer aNdi pUzL (Varnish, Jiffy) and long-time Seattle bassist Tim Spencer (The Loafers, Wilgus) The Sound of Speed delivers a sonic feast of powerful hooks exploding in layers of sparkling guitar and synthesizer chords, rocking beats, and addictive melodies resounding in subtle, yet satisfying, desperation.
